The article examines theoretical approaches to defining and structuring the category of «tourist and recreational potential» as a complex socio‑economic category in the context of digitalization and ecosystem interactions. The study is based on systemic, interdisciplinary, and ecosystem approaches, using comparative, contrastive, semantic, and content analysis of scientific literature. In the course of scientific research, interpretations of resource potential have been systematized at the macro level (region, municipal entity) and the micro level (enterprise); approaches to determining tourist and recreational potential have been identified; the transformation of tourist and recreational potential under the influence of digitalization has been substantiated – this manifests itself in the emergence of new types of resources (Big Data, neural networks, platforms), increased efficiency of traditional resources, and the formation of an integrated information environment. The tourist and recreational potential requires rethinking as an integrated characteristic of the territory’s ecosystem, encompassing not only material and intangible assets but also the institutional environment, relationships, and processes of joint value creation. An author’s definition has been proposed that takes into account the totality of recreational, tourist, information and digital, labour, material, financial, and institutional resources, as well as the synergistic effect of the interaction of all participants (region, enterprises, local communities, tourists), which creates a theoretical basis for the further development of methodological tools for assessing ecosystem interactions in the field of tourism and recreation.
