The article examines the impact of digitalization of operational and reporting processes on the competitiveness of dairy cattle breeding. A theoretical analysis of the channels of influence of digital technologies on the efficiency of agricultural production has been conducted, and the underestimation of the transaction channel, associated with operational and reporting processes, as a source of hidden reserves for increasing competitiveness has been substantiated. Based on the materials of the Novosibirsk region, it is shown that the region, being a leader of the Siberian Federal District in terms of state support for the agro-industrial complex, simultaneously faces a paradoxical situation: a significant portion of subsidies remains unclaimed by small farms precisely due to the administrative complexity of their registration. The study relies on Rosstat data, industry reviews, and an expert survey of managers of agricultural organizations. The structure of the total economic effect of digitalization is detailed, including direct cost savings and additional revenue from productivity growth due to the introduction of digital tools. A four-level model of digital maturity of a dairy farm is proposed, with an entry threshold from a level that does not require initial investment to a fully automated farm, and a calculation of the payback period for each level. The scientific novelty lies in the identification and quantitative assessment of the transaction channel of digitalization as an independent factor of competitiveness, comparable in significance to technological innovations. Practical recommendations for agricultural management bodies and agricultural producers are formulated. The results obtained indicate that the digitalization of operational and reporting processes is not an auxiliary complement to technological innovations but an independent and significant factor in increasing the competitiveness of dairy cattle breeding.
